The Optimist Club of Huber Heights invites all Santa’s helpers, elves, and even those looking to redeem themselves from the Naughty List to join us in spreading holiday cheer. It’s time for our annual Christmas Tree Unloading Day, and we need all the help we can get to make this festive tradition a success!

What’s Happening?

Since 1959, when Huber Heights was still known as Wayne Township, the Optimist Club has been selling Christmas trees to fundraise for kids’ activities in our community. This long-standing tradition has supported countless youth programs, scholarships, and activities that bring joy and opportunity to children in Huber Heights. The funds raised through these tree sales go directly toward creating a brighter future for our local youth.

But before families can pick out the perfect tree, those trees need to be unloaded, sorted, and prepared for sale—and that’s where we need your help!

What Do You Need to Bring?

  • Work Gloves: Some trees are a little prickly, so protect your hands from pesky pine needles.
  • Weather-Appropriate Attire: A heavier jacket is a good idea, not just for warmth but also to shield yourself when lifting trees.
  • Your Holiday Spirit: Whether you’re channeling your inner Santa, Buddy the Elf, or even the Grinch (let’s call it Who-Berville Grinch energy), we promise you’ll leave feeling festive and fulfilled.

Volunteers will help unload trees, mark them with colored ribbons to indicate their type and price, and arrange them for sale. It’s a perfect way to burn off a few calories, get your cardio workout, and earn a few extra indulgences at Thanksgiving dinner.

About the Optimist Club of Huber Heights

The Optimist Club is part of Optimist International, a worldwide volunteer organization with over 2,500 clubs across the United States and beyond. Our mission is to bring out the best in youth, our communities, and ourselves. Locally, we’ve been making a difference since 1959, providing unwavering support to the children of Huber Heights through programs that build confidence, promote education, and foster lifelong skills.

Over the decades, our Christmas tree sales have become a beloved tradition. These efforts not only fund vital programs but also bring families together to celebrate the magic of the season. From sports sponsorships to academic scholarships and youth leadership programs, every tree sold makes a difference.

Why Help?

In Who-Berville (aka Huber Heights), we believe the holiday spirit is about community, giving back, and coming together to make the world a little brighter. By helping us unload trees, you’re not just lifting evergreens—you’re lifting the hopes and dreams of kids in our community. Plus, you’ll leave with that warm fuzzy feeling only Santa’s helpers (or maybe even reformed Grinches) get when doing something good.

So, whether you’re looking to score extra WW points, make up for a few Naughty List offenses, or simply spread holiday cheer, we’d love to see you there. Let’s kick off the holiday season in style and keep this cherished tradition alive for another year!
