Ed Hart Memorial Service Award
Ed Hart was a Community Leader and a local businessman. Ed served our country and returned from military service to serve his local community. He was one of the founders of the Huber Heights Athletic Foundation which still exists today. The foundation was created to help students and community organizations to thrive. He was instrumental in organizing funds to locate a YMCA in our community. This award is presented to an individual who has dedicated themselves to go above and beyond serving and volunteering not only their time and knowledge but their unselfish dedication to our community.
Jan Vargo has been a resident of our community since the mid-1970s. She and her husband Paul moved here with their children after having been stationed in Germany. Jan began immediately serving her community through her church and other civic groups. In 1984 Jan was encouraged to run for her local Ward 2 council seat and won. She even was a member of the Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for seven years. She has served on the Huber Heights Board of Zoning Appeals and ran for the 40th District State Representative seat only to lose to Russ Guerra. She was endorsed by the Dayton Daily News. Jan is proud to have been our At-Large Councilwoman, just retiring in 2016. Jan is known throughout the Montgomery County region and was one of the best recognized elected officials in our City. The Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce is proud to award her the Ed Hart Memorial Service Award for 2018. Jan is considered a friend of the business community. Congratulations Jan, on a job well done.
