Schools

With a population near 40,000 we pride ourselves on the schools and education provided for our young population.

Huber Heights City Schools consists of seven elementary, two middle schools, one campus style high school, and two private schools including Dayton Christian Academy and Saint Peter’s Catholic School.

The Huber Heights City School District educates over 6800 students in ten buildings including, one high school complex, two middle schools, and seven elementary schools. However, the Huber Heights City School District is more than a collection of buildings. Our vision, ”Every child can and will learn,” best describes the district’s commitment to the students in our community. A strong and diverse curriculum, a dedicated and nurturing staff, and abundant community support can be found in each of our ten school buildings.

The strong curriculum in the Huber Heights City School District is the hallmark of our educational program, preparing students for the challenges of college, career, and life. Beginning at the elementary level and continuing through the high school, our curriculum is aligned to Ohio’s Academic Content Standards and provides a solid framework for students to reach their full academic potential. Mastery of basic skills is stressed in all parts of the curriculum while allowing students to develop at an individual pace. Programs and services are provided in the elementary schools, middle schools, and high school to meet the educational needs of all students including those that are disabled, as well as gifted students.

Students, as the products of the Huber Heights City Schools, are testimony to the high quality of education available. Achievement and ability test scores across the district reflect the high quality of our curriculum as students consistently chalk up scores above state and national averages. Students also excel outside of the classroom. They collect food for the needy, sponsor recycling efforts to preserve the environment, visit our elderly residents at nursing homes, and participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

At the heart of our educational program is an experienced and dedicated staff. Teachers, keeping abreast of the most innovative teaching methods, are second to none in their profession. Many earn federal, state, and county grants for special projects to enhance the classroom experience. Others serve on teacher committees and are respected members of professional organizations. With an average of 14 years of teaching experiences, Huber Heights’ educators are committed to instilling a lifelong love for learning in their students. Their deep-rooted commitment can be seen in the simplest of gestures—by praising a student for a job well done or providing the extra time and encouragement needed for a student to succeed.

Ranked as an “EFFECTIVE” school district by the Ohio Department of Education in 2004, 2005, and 2006, the academic and athletic excellence of our students’ is a continual source of community pride. From the environmental engineer, to the health care professional, to the teacher, to the software developer, the future is being molded in our classrooms today. We invite you to visit the Huber Heights City Schools and see for yourself what our educational program is all about.

We are within a an hour to regional colleges and universities including: Antioch University, Cedarville University, Central State University, Clark State Community College, Edison State Community College, Sinclair Community College, University of Dayton, Urbana University, Wilberforce University, Wittenberg University and Wright State University.
