The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Wright State University is
seeking businesses in need of assistance in the area of human resources. Up to six companies will be selected to participate with graduate level students in an upcoming HR team project. Team members may assist in development of staffing policy and procedures manuals, compensation policy and recruiting materials or students may also conduct wage surveys. This is a great opportunity to start an HR manual or revisit an older employee guide that might have become outdated. Remember, many contracts, especially government contracts, require proper HR procedures and documentation before any awards can take place. The Wayne Township/Huber Heights Historical Society board meets at 6:00 pm the first Monday of each month at the Historical Society office located in the Huber Centre. The board of directors is made up of a 9 member volunteer board and is a 501c3 non-profit organization. If you would like to donate photos, articles or artifacts please call 974-5286. They will also make copies of your items for their artifacts and return them to you. The Historical Society has received valuable information and documents from our residents which help preserve the history of our community. Celebrating 200 Years

On September 25 -26 the Historical Society will be celebrating the 200th year of Wayne Township/ Huber Heights at Carriage Hill Farm. On the same weekend Carriage Hill Farm will have their Country Fair depicting life on the farm in the 1890’s. A shuttle bus will take visitors from Carriage Hill to Titus School on Taylorsville Road where reenactments from pre1840 and the Civil War will be taking place....

On August 12, Detective Mark Bruns from the Huber Heights Police Department was the guest speaker for WINGS. Detective Bruns spoke about retail theft in Huber Heights. The criminals are getting better and better at stealing/“Boosting” merchandise. Many of the items stolen are placed on EBay, Craig’s List and also sold at Flea markets. News from Wright Patterson Air Force Base

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is gearing up to hire more than 275 tech-related workers over the next 18 months. A majority of these positions require a STEM background (science, technology, engineering and math). In addition to the tech-related jobs openings at AFRL there will also be medical –related job openings because of BRAC and the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine moving to WPAFB. About 1,200 new military and civilian positions are in the process of moving to Wright-Patt from other bases in Texas, Florida, Arizona, New York and Massachusetts.
